Jeremy Bentham
Natural Rights is “simple nonsense”; Natural and Imprescriptible Rights is “nonsense upon stilts”
“This is Nonsense on Stilts” is so going to end up on the next guys essay whether he deserves it or not.

Yeah! *grin*
The idea of ‘rights’ is nonsense mainly because rights must be conferred, and the problem is nobody wants to state how. They don’t just exist. However, if one believes that a higher power than man confers rights via nature, then the idea of ‘rights’ becomes viable and is no longer nonsense. Then there are such things as natural rights.
And the obvious single right which leads to the rest is the right to life, else you wouldn’t be able to hold any other rights.
yo whats ur email i’ll email it to ya
Imprescriptible is also problematic because rights come with a corresponding obligation.
The right to property debars someone from the liberty of entering your cheese plantation.
Why would a right come with a corresponding obligation? It’s a good question, and the answer of course must be related to the question of what authority grants the right.
