Inglourious Basterds
Theres two reasons why i enjoyed the new Tarantino flick.
1. Alot of it is in French. Automatically like French movies. dunch know why.
2. Two brilliants scenes that just make the entire movie. The best Tarantino opening in my opinion since I got bored with the start of Resevoir Dogs. The second scene is a tense encounter with a Gestapo Major in a tavern.
Other than those two scenes the movie actually just muddles along. I didn’t realise it because Brad Pitt is again very funny (like in Burn After Reading) but in retrospect, Tarantino seems to lose interest towards the end. It gets messy and convenient to say the least.
Also, Christoph Waltz is the best villain since Heath played the Joker.
Jake Gyllenhaal vs 300 Spartans

He clearly hasn’t done an action movie before. Look how big he got for the role. Overkill
Also, the poster looks like something i would have done in 5 minutes.
Not Sure About This Holmes
They’ve turned Sherlock Holmes into Jack Sparrow. As watchable as Downey Jr is, I think they should have let Hugh Laurie do it. Downey’s accent sounds horrible. And Jude Law has been relegated to Watson.
Good news is Mark Strong is in it.

The Road
This movie looks fantastic. Alot like Children of Men but with Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron
Watching Star Trek was like watching Transformers. Full of geek glee.

Vulcan Nerve Pinch! Invented because punching is too undignified for a Vulcan.
The Brothers Bloom
This one is very highly rated after swimming its way past all the requisite film fests. And it looks FUN. I haven’t been this impressed by a trailer since Hot Fuzz. (i think)
Anyone who “collects hobbies” is awesome in my book.
Ole Samurai Movies
New obsession: Akiro Kurosawa Movies.
Some of the scenes remind me of the Tropic Thunder “Eat Lead” scene, Clint Eastwood, Star Wars.
Observe:
Go watch Old Samurai Movies. They look great and I’m quite surprised by how many contemporary directors stole from them. I had to pause frequently and go “holy cow, thats the star wars cantina scene!”
Definitely a must for film buffs.
A Rousing and Invigorating Narrative
Thanks Tarantino, this looks SWEET.
Indeed, they need to be deee-stroyed, them German.
