Its like meeting an old friend

After the disappointing season finale of House, I started watching Boston Legal.

Its pretty much the same thing: every episode, an unusual case presents itself and the talented but eccentric Alan Shore (James Spader) demonstrates how he practices law in his own unorthodox way. His sidekick is senile senior partner Denny Crane whose catch phrase is his own name. Denny is played by William Shatner.

Its alot like House really. Substitute medical jargon for legal jargon that i actually understand.

I think MTV used to be cool. Here are some guys picking up where they left off.

Obama on Leno

Has Obama cheapened the presidency by appearing on Leno? (Lets ignore the damage the last guy did)

While I’m digging the uber slack self deprecation and the jokes about living “in the bubble”, I can’t help but feel like hes trying a little too hard to be cool. Obama is a pretty smooth guy but the modulation of his image has led to a number of awkward moments like that ill advised Special Olympics joke. Not a good idea for a President to make jokes as comedians are very likely to offend somebody.

Its nice that you’re trying to make us feel like you’re one of us but you’re the President. Be confident, be whatever America needs you to be. Somebody i would have a beer with? hmmm, okay. Maybe Americans like that but the people i have beers with are kinda wonky.

Is Obama wasting his time on a talk show?

I have this sneaky feeling that behind the smiles, lights and red carpets, Obama has this lean mean team of tough SOBs running around smashing windows and legislating the hell out of Capitol Hill.

America is a country obsessed with consumerism, celebrity, excess. Maybe Obama is just giving them what they want. Look at the pretty lights everybody!

PS: Just look over the pond. The Brits are taking the piss out of all their leaders. No standing ovations, talk show hosts have been banned for lewd phone calls. I LOVE THEM, cynical bastards.

Visually, Mad Men > Pushing Daisies.

Also, John Slattery = Badass.
