Damn Right Dwight Award.

At TP’s behest, i tried The Daily Scoop today.

Firstly i must say that “its abit more like a sorbet” is a wholly inaccurate description of their product, TP.

Secondly, yea, its pretty damn good.

Thirdly, DAMN thats a PROPER ICE CREAM CONE. I can’t believe how many ice cream parlours have the cheek to serve me thin or even uncrunchy ice cream cones. Full marks for delivering a complete ice cream experience Daily Scoop people.

I am pleased to present them with my coveted DWIGHT award

That is all.

Neil Gaiman Queue

Posted in Uncategorized by kentay on October 17, 2009

We got our 4 tickets for the Neil Gaiman talk on Nov 1st.

Had to queue outside the Arts House for an hour. We passed the time assessing the queue in front of us and amusing the nearby 1st year  FASS student to whom we assured we “bore no ill will”.

Luke went around counting people which was creepy and hilarious.  And she rather astutely predicted “Your friend Ethan isnt coming back”. Ethan had abandoned his post to get us drinks and ended up hanging out with Slow in an audio shop.

So thats two tickets lost, sorry readers.

And the queue was something like 10% sullen romantics, 30% comic book geeks, 30% girls with guitars who were probably fans of Delirium.

high snobiety

Is it not terrible that we should judge people by their taste in things like we’re so wont to do.  I’m personally rather self concious about what is on my iPod. The music I have acquired is difficult to describe and I always preface it with “Its all very weird” as if to prepare them for the shock they are about to receive and then they look through it and you can tell it didn’t work and they don’t know what to make of it.

The solution, of course, is to just have everything, in which case you can confidently flash the contents of your iPod to everybody. But if you’re like me and you only have a small compact mp3 player, then you’ve got everything curated nicely to suit your demented twisted musical tastes.

Surely you’ve been in this situation before:

You’re in a car with someone you barely know and that person decides he/she wants to play some music. Desperately you try to find some common ground. Usually, I just go “Metallica?” somewhat tentatively and we’ll both nod but clearly Metallica isn’t going to cut it for the both of us because its either too loud or not hardcore enough.

Actually if you’re female its easier because I will just put on some band that obviously only exists to make music for pretty girls because theres

a) trumpets

b) people wearing cardigans.

Its ok that we have different interests though cause if you’re like me and you can appreciate the absurdity of it all, we’re going to get along just fine.

Wow, these are late.

Going to buy a pair of APCs. For some reason this pair of Levis really didnt last past the 3rd wash.

The Holocaust memorial. There were a bunch of kids playing and an English guy dressed as a woman. His mates were having a laugh.

Kastanienallee district was lined with crazy shops and crazeir people.

BMW museum in Munich. I lit this photo in Photoshop. Looks pretty convincing.

Just did my LNATs. It went swimmingly how kind of you to ask. Certainly better than the last one i took when I just got bored of all their questions.

There was one passage which objected to the Harry Potter books on the basis that it depicted children misbehaving and being rather proud about it.  Isn’t most british lit for kids like that though?  Running off  to investigate coal mines, pissing off the warden (by that i mean your corrections officer), housing illegal aliens in bathtubs etc.

The exception is of course Narnia where its all LETS LISTEN TO THE LION kids.

The essay question was When is Age Discrimination Justified?

The Answer, of course, is When you’re a ten year old but I had to write considerably more than that.

Best frontwoman since Dilana Robichaux.

I also think Bonham Carter is awesome. There is a pattern emerging here.
